Frequently Asked Questions
Artificial turf is a perfect solution for the high desert region. No water usage and low maintenance frees up your time to do the things you love.
Rocky Mountain Turf is an ideal solution for playground systems. When combined with appropriate padding, our turf meets ASTM fall height and ADA standards allowing easy access by those with disabilities and wheelchairs.
Artificial turf is typically made of polyethylene, polypropylene and nylon. All of these materials are 100% recyclable.
A quality artificial turf installation is an investment for the future. A higher up-front investment pays back in about five years through water and maintenance savings. Of course, having a carefree playground, sports field or backyard is priceless!
The proper process for artificial grass installation includes excavating three to four inches of soil from the targeted area and then backfilling with a sub-base of gravel and aggregate hardpack. Treated weather boards are installed as a boarder for the targeted area to attach the turf. The turf is then rolled out and attached to the nailer boards. The final step is to apply infill silica to provide ballast, cushioning and cooling to the turf.
While artificial turf surfaces do get hot on sunny summer days, Rocky Mountain turf styles, when combined with specialty infill solutions, can reduce surface temperatures by about 30 degrees. We recommend on the hottest days that shoes and socks be worn to avoid hot spots.
